The American Red Cross blood supply has reached emergency levels with 50,000 fewer donations than expected in June. This shortfall leaves the Red Cross with half the readily available blood products on hand that it had this time in 2011.
Especially needed are O positive and O negative, B negative, and A negative, although all blood types are needed.
A blood drive will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Peabody United Methodist Church, 403 N. Sycamore St.
The schedule for donations will be by appointment only; no walk-ins will be accepted. To make an appointment call (800) 733-2767.
