HOPE IN THE HEARTLAND:   Blessed are the pure in heart

Gracepoint Church, Peabody

What does it mean to “see God?” Many people — rightfully so — will think longingly of that great day when all of those who have believed in God will be gathered together to be forever in His glorious presence. As the hymn says, what a day of rejoicing that will be! But there is more to this promise than that.

There is a sense of fellowship and a call to alertness that challenges us to ask ourselves: do I see the presence of God in my life? Is my heart uncontaminated by the world so that there is nothing that comes between me and my God and my sensitivity to His hand in each part of my days?

A moral clarity and sincerity is crucial. If our hearts are compromised, it’s like trying to look through a telescope with a smudged lens. God deserves our praise, and we need to be able to see Him in every part & time of our lives so that we can honor Him.

Sometimes we don’t see Him, because we’re not looking.
