Bicyclists pedal the county
Staff writer
Nineteen members of a bicycle-touring group explored Marion County last week.
The group, Somewhere in Kansas, has taken an annual bicycle trip in the state for 26 years.
On Thursday, the group left the Historic Elgin Hotel at 9 a.m. and pedaled to Florence.
There, they visited the Harvey House Museum, then pedaled to Doyle Creek Mercantile for shopping, and had lunch at Flint Hills Market and Bakery.
Mim Hesterman and Sue Ice were coordinators for the trip to Marion County.
Members come from all over the state, Hesterman said. In recent years, the group has toured locations including Kansas City, Emporia, and Woodston.
