Betty Dyck

Private graveside services for Betty J. Dyck, 89, Minneapolis, Kansas, who died May 25 at Salina Regional Health Center, were Saturday at Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.

She was born Sept. 8, 1930 in Ramona to Alex and Leah (Riffel) Brunner. Betty was proud of her brother’s, husband’s, and many friends’ service in the military. It was fitting her last day was Memorial Day.

Betty was a 1948 graduate of Hope High School and she attended Emporia State, where she obtained a teaching certificate. She and John R. Dyck were united in marriage July 13, 1952.

They moved to Minneapolis, Kansas, where they made their home since 1967. Betty worked as a teacher for a little more than six years and sold Avon products for 39 years. Her biggest job and love was being a caregiver for her parents, husband, and children. Betty was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina, VFW Auxiliary Post No. 3201, Quest Club, and the extension homemakers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 2013, brother Kenneth, sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Fred, brother and sister-in-law Lauren and Orvell, and John’s sister and brother-in-law Annie and Melvin Webb.

Survivors are children, Barbara (and husband Glen) Roths, Sonia (and husband Brad) Cooper, and Jerry (and husband Gina) Dyck; grandchildren Crystal (and husband Keith) Lamb, Holly Cooper, Christian Dyck, and Elise Dyck; great-granddaughter Cooper Lamb; and a host of nieces and nephews.
