Bertha E. Wendlandt, 91, of Herington died April 29, 2012, at the Medicalodges of Herington. She was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Lincolnville to Gottfried P. and Sadie Brunner.

She owned and operated Bert’s Beauty Shop for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She married Ray E. Wendlandt on Feb. 8, 1940, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herington. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2004.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joyce Yvonne Wendlandt; three brothers, Alvin Brunner, Ervin Brunner, and Edwin Brunner; and three sisters, Esther Kohlieber, Helen Alt, and Clara Longhofer.

She is survived by a brother, Floyd Brunner of Paris, Texas; a sister, Bernice Everhart of Herington; and many nieces, nephews, and great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Her funeral is at 11 a.m. today at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington. The family received friends Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
