Catherine Bergman and piano accompanist Tara Laudie will present a flute and piccolo recital at 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at Peabody United Methodist Church. Bergman teaches at Emporia State University and lives in Peabody.
At ESU she teaches flute lessons, music appreciation, eartraining/sightsinging classes, and conducts the ESU Flute Choir. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Wayne State College, her master’s in flute performance at Wichita State University, and a doctorate in flute performance from the University of Kansas.
Bergman is a member of the Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony, the Mid-America Woodwind Quintet, the Flint Hills Trio, and various chamber groups at ESU. Several of the university groups she directs or with which she performs, have been selected to make repeated appearances at the annual Kansas Music Educators Convention.
Bergman and her husband Greg, who directs the Newton High School Wind Ensemble, have lived in Peabody since August 2007 with their two sons, Joshua and Dominic.
