Marion baseball starts season 2-0
Marion baseball returns with a veteran team that has lots of experience.
All but one major contributor from last season’s 18-5 team, which reached the regional championship game, will be active this season.
Top returning players are Jack Lanning, Mitch Norris, Gavin Wasmuth, Cooper Bailey, Ian Ingels, and Hayden Mendoza.
Because of injury, top player Trevor Schafers will have to miss this season. But senior Nathan Hoffner will be making a return after missing last season with an injury. He will help provide depth with the absence of Schafers.
If healthy, sophomore Lander Smith has an opportunity to carve out a big role on the team this season.
The Warriors also have a good group of freshmen who are getting up to speed and will help the roster’s depth.
The season already has begun, with Marion traveling on the road Thursday to face Conway Springs.
The Warriors walked away with victories, 20-1 and 13-1.
