BASEBALL: Hillsboro, Peabody team up for baseball
Staff writer
Peabody-Burns will join with Hillsboro for boys baseball this season under first-year coach Daniel Moss.
Top returning top players will be Tanner Parks, Dawson Boldt, Zander Haslett, Logan Frantz, and Dallas Whorton.
Other key players on the field are likely to be Nash Dickinson, Jesse Collins, and Kole Willis-Dirks.
Hillsboro graduated a lot of the talented players last year and returns only five. They do, however, expect to be competitive in a tough Central Kansas League.
The biggest challenge will be lack of experience with such a young team. Among the teams’ six upperclassmen is a foreign exchange student from Germany.
The goals for the season are to improve every day and be more aggressive at the plate.
Moss wants to have at least 50% of all at-bats be quality at-bats. He wants fewer errors to be committed while at the same time is encouraging team members to become more aggressive when running the base paths.
