Bank’s name will change

Staff writer

Although the name of Hillsboro State Bank will change if regulators approve a proposed sale to Vintage Bank Kansas, employees will remain the same.

Dawn Helmer, president of Hillsboro State Bank, said every effort would be made to ensure a seamless transition for customers and employees.

Steve Worrell, chief executive of Vintage Bank, said the bank anticipated that purchase of the Hillsboro bank would be completed as early as the end of April, depending on how soon state and federal bank regulators approve the sale.

“I am hoping the regulators will approve by the end of March and the deal with close about a month after,” Worrell said.

The state bank commissioner and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation have to approve the sale first.

Written comments can be mailed to the commissioner at 700 SW Jackson St., Ste. 300, Topeka KS 66603.

Comments received by Feb. 15 will be reviewed. All comments will be subject to disclosure through the Kansas Open Records Act.

Comments also may be made by Feb. 18 to the regional director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, 1100 Walnut St., Ste. 2100, Kansas City MO 64106.

Non-confidential portions of the application are on file at the regional FDIC office and can be viewed during business hours or requested from the office.
