Aaron Yoder, Guinness World Record Holder in Retrorunning will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Peabody.

This event is free and open to the public. A soup supper will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the program will follow at 7 p.m.

Yoder set the Guinness World Record for the fastest one mile run backward Nov. 23, 2015, in 5:54.25 seconds. He has since run the “retro” mile in 5:30.

He represented the United States at the International World Championship of Retrorunning held in Essen, Germany, in July. He won gold in 800m, 1500m, 5000m, and the 4X400 relay, and won silver in the 4x100 relay.

Yoder will speak about his Guinness World record journey, his experience in Germany, about Going B.A.C.K., and what his plans are in backward running and racing.

Yoder is a Peabody native and a 2009 graduate of Fort Hays State University, where he majored in Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in health promotions and wellness and a minor in business administration.

He completed his master’s degree in Sport and Movement Studies through Fort Hays in December 2010.  He also served as vice president for the National Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa.

Yoder is head Cross Country and Track and Field coach at Bethany College.
