HOPE IN THE HEARTLAND:   Aware of love

Gracepoint Church, Peabody

My writing desk at home is one of my “happy places.” There are great works of art stuck to the walls around my desk. Most of these masterpieces have words or designs created out of glue and glitter, or colored markers. Then there is the picture of the two artists smiling at me. I smile back every time I see it, because I love them so much. And I know they feel the same for me since their artwork says “Daddy, I love you” on it.

Spattered between the priceless artwork are notes — written by these two affectionate artists and their equally supportive mother — that also declare that I am loved.

Yep. This is a happy place.

But our love notes to other people fade in comparison to God’s words of love to us in the Bible. “For God so loved the world …” or “God is love.” Or “love is from God …” and many more. God is constantly reminding us that He loves us with a love that is unequalled and eternal. Isn’t it good to be loved? Now, let’s live like we love Him back.
