Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt will be here to talk to Peabody residents about scams and identity theft, but not on the date or at the time his staff put on posters about his visit.
He will be at Peabody Township Library next Thursday at 3 p.m., not Friday at 2:30 p.m. as advertised.
“When we spoke on the phone, they had us lined up for 2:30 on Friday,” librarian Rodger Charles said. “Then when they sent the posters, a different time and date were printed on them. I just figured they changed it and forgot to tell me. I went ahead and put the posters up and rearranged my schedule a bit.”
In a phone conversation Tuesday morning with Schmidt’s staff, Charles got the whole truth and nothing but the truth from the attorney general’s office.
“Apparently they will be in Hill City on Friday, so we hope everyone interested in hearing Schmidt’s information will now make the necessary changes to their calendars,” he said. “We appreciate having him here during Consumer Protection Week and the topics he is covering are important to all of us. Just remember, March 10 at 3 p.m.”
Anyone needing more information may contact Charles at the library at (620) 983-2502.
