Astronaut Tyler “Nick” Hague, who lived in Peabody from 1982 to 1989 when his father was principal at Peabody-Burns High School, will speak April 5 at Hutchinson Community College’s Dillon Lecture Series.

Hague is a son of Don and Beverly Hague and grandson of Willard and Earlene Hague of Florence.

Selected by NASA as an astronaut in 2013, he most recently was flight engineer on the International Space Station for Expeditions 59 and 60. He was in space 203 days, from March 4 to October 4, 2019.

Russian and American space programs worked closely on the ISS for 24 years. There are separate Russian and U.S. orbital segments, and the head of the Russian space agency has said sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine threaten that cooperation.

In 2018, Hague was one of two astronauts aboard a Russian Soyez capsule scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan.

The capsule was headed for the International Space Station, but a rocket booster failed shortly after liftoff, and the launch was aborted.

Both astronauts were later reported to be in good condition.

Hague’s speech will be at 10:30 a.m. April 5 at the Hutchinson Community College sports arena.

Tickets are $10 and are available on Hutchinson Community College’s website or at the arena on the day of the lecture. Students and school groups will be admitted free with a school ID.
