Arts and crafts festivals to offer bonanza for shoppers

Staff writer

Vendors at two Sept. 21 arts and crafts events will offer a treasure trove of goods to shoppers looking for unique home décor or practical items.

Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair

Hillsboro’s Arts and Crafts Fair, in downtown Hillsboro, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2019.

The 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. event attracts vendors and shoppers nationwide. Home décor, garden art, jewelry, woodcrafts, bath and spa items, gifts, food, baby and children’s items, and clothing are featured items.

Local delicacies such as Hillsboro-made sausage, zwieback, and Bierocks, and typical festival food such as roasted almonds, kettle corn, funnel cakes, and fresh-squeezed lemonade will be available for hungry shoppers.

Among this year’s vendors will be Waterhouse Creations, offering one-of-a-kind pottery glazed with food-safe glazes that are beautiful and functional.

Rosebud Creations will sell wooden signs. “Praisin’ Art” praises the Lord with beautiful gourds.

Tommi Crystal Designs will sell artisan jewelry created with mixed metals and enamel.

Art in the Park

Marion’s Art in the Park and Craft Show is also Sept. 21.

This year’s 40th annual event will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Central Park.

Artisans will sell ceramics, woodcrafts, leatherworks, bath and body products, yard art, repurposed items and local honey.

A vendor new to this year’s Art in the Park will sell metal sculptures, including Yeti families of father, mother, and child.

Food vendors will serve Bierocks, barbeque, grilled chicken salad, pie, taco salad, cherry limeades, and other treats.

Visitors can register to win one of 10 $20 give certificates to be given away at 4 p.m.

The certificates are redeemable at any booth before the show closes at 5 p.m.
