Arlin Paul Funk, 43, died Feb. 29, 2012, after a battle with cancer. He was born March 1, 1968, in Hillsboro to Norman Funk and Viola Lorentz (nee Peters).
He graduated from Emporia State University, where he met Kimberly Thornburg. They married on July 2, 1994, in Kirkwood, Mo. He was a physical education teacher and coach for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly; his parents; a daughter, Mikayla; a son, Andrew; a brother, Jerry Funk of Moundridge; two sisters, Kristy Heffren of Topeka and Karen Burch of McPherson; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends. He was an organ donor.
A funeral was held Saturday at Dardenne Presbyterian Church, Dardenne Prairie, Mo. Visitation with the family was Friday at Bopp Chapel, Kirkwood, Mo.
A trust fund will be set up for his children. Donations may be sent to Mikayla or Andrew Funk, 713 Jacobs Station Road, St. Charles, MO 63304. Memorial contributions may also be made to Our M.O.M. Inc. to help melanoma research.
