Three area students earned academic honors at Southwestern College in Winfield.

Jessica Bernhardt of Marion earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication with academic honors.

Peabody residents Alyssa Carter of Peabody, pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and religion, and Andrew Topham, also pursuing a bachelor of arts degree, in chemistry, earned the honors.

The students were named to the college’s dean’s honor roll for the spring 2009 semester. To be eligible, students must be full-time and earn a grade point average of at least 3.70.
