Another change to cleanup week regs
Waste Connections, the city’s new trash service provider, has contacted the city office with a slightly different scenario for the pickup of used tires.
Residents must still contact them in advance for pickup, but Waste Connections trucks will pick them up curbside on May 13 instead of residents having to deliver them to the roll-off Dumpster service.
“This is only slightly different from their initial plan,” Deputy City Clerk Stephanie Ax said. “And it will be easier for residents to put them on the curb than to haul them to the Dumpsters.”
Anyone who needs to dispose of old tires needs to call Waste Connections in advance at (800) 230-0383, then dial 4 and give the operator a name, address, and the number of tires to be picked up.
“That is the only way to get them picked up,” Ax said. “If your name and address and the number of tires are not on their list when they do the curbside pickup, they will leave the tires on your lawn.”
Residents will be charged $4 for each tire Waste Connections picks up. Billing for the disposal service will be added to the resident’s utility bill in June.
