Annual reunion held by Collett descendants

Descendants of Fred and Edith Collett gathered for their 61st annual reunion Oct. 13 at Marion County Lake Hall.

Those attending included Howard Collett, first child of Henry and Ethel Collett, and Leon Hayen, first child of Walter and Dorothy Collett Hayen. Henry Collett and Dorothy Hayen were children of Fred and Edith Collett.

After a potluck lunch, there was a short business session. The group voted to change the annual gathering’s name to the Collett-Hayen reunion.

Officers elected for 2020 were Randy Collett, president, and Hollyce Morris, secretary.

Entertainment included a Kansas trivia game and a white elephant auction. One of the articles auctioned was a box of napkins saved from family and friends’ weddings, showers, and anniversaries by Ethel Collett.

Seventy-two family members attended.

Those from Marion included Howard Collett, Randy and Rachel Collett, Zach, Keri, and Rosalyn Collett, Shirley Bowers, Richard Bowers, Greg and Mary Beth Bowers, Ben Bowers, Chris and Kathy Meierhoff.

Erin and Keenan Meierhoff, Stacey and Carla Collett, Samantha Collett, Virginia Downing, Max and Donna Hayen, Tom Thomas, Megan, Rylee, and Clayton Thomas, and Mike and Gayle Thomas.

Those from out of town were Rick and Collette Erickson and Keith and Anne Collett, Chapman; Lucy Collett, Leon Hayen, and Scott Hayen, Topeka; Zachary and Addie Herrman, Lyons; Brian Bowers, Spring Hill.

Marge Talbott, Deanna Talbott, Terry and Gina Marx, and Mason Talbott, Wichita; Pat and Sue Talbott and Rebecca and Alec Wagner, Overland Park, Anita Sly, Colleen Sly, and Andrea Alstatt, Salina.
