Andy Krause

No services have been scheduled for Andrew E. “Andy” Krause, 89, Hillsboro, who died Thursday. Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Born Jan. 4, 1934, in Goessel to Ed and Tilly Krause, he joined the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Austria as an air artillery technical sergeant.

After his discharge in 1954, he attended welding school in Ohio and in 1955 married Lois Jean Maltbie. The couple lived in Canton and Marion.

He worked as a welder, specializing in pipelines and bridges, in Kansas, Oklahoma, Georgia, South Carolina, New York, and the District of Columbia. He built more than 30 bridges for Marion County and was a member of the American Legion in Hillsboro.

His wife preceded him in death. Survivors include 3 children, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
