Algae warning lifted for county lake
A blue-green algae warning at Marion County Lake was lifted after 14 weeks, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.
The lake was not converted to a watch status.
“I think the main cause is the water temperature dropping back down,” lake superintendent Isaac Hett said. “That causes the algae to go back down to the bottom. I think a lot of those cells just were not on the top where they do the testing.”
