Al Chill

Services for Marion native Alfred Alexander Chill, 98, who died Sunday at Norman Veterans Center in Norman, Oklahoma, will be later in Oklahoma City.

Burial will be at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Born on May 28, 1923, in Marion to Alfred Alexander and Golda Patterson Chill, he graduated from Marion High School in 1942, attended Kansas State University for a semester, and was drafted into the Army, receiving a Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and a Presidential Unit Citation.

After discharge, he married Lois L. Mathiot on Sept. 8, 1946, in Marion. In 1952, they moved to Guymon, where he worked as manager of one clothing store and later owned another.

Survivors include wife Lois, sons Bruce and Brian Chill, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Brother Harry Chill, son Brad Chill, and two great-grandsons preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established with Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, 523 N Roosevelt St, Guymon OK 73942.

Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon is in charge of arrangements.
