The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
U.S.-50 near milemarker 292:
Abraham Friesen, 44, Enid, Okla., was eastbound on U.S.-50 near milemarker 292 in a 1999 Kenworth truck at 8:45 p.m. Aug. 6, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
Grand Street, Hillsboro:
Dorothy R. Hanneman, 88, 1153 Jade, Peabody, was eastbound on Grand Street near Main in a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis at 10:57 a.m. Aug. 11, when her vehicle was struck by a 1992 Ford F-250 pickup driven by Alan L. Bentz, 54, 3456 Limestone, Tampa, who was backing from a parking space on the south side of Grand Street. Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk reported Bentz did not see the car and struck the side of it. Joel Hanneman, 78, of the same address, was a passenger in the car. Funk reported there were no injuries.
190th Road near K-256:
Troy L. Peterson, 38, 205 S. Madison, Hillsboro, was westbound on 190th Road near K-256 in a 1992 Ford Ranger pickup at 2 a.m. Aug. 18, when the vehicle entered a north ditch, struck a field entrance, and rolled several times. The driver was transported by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey.
Lakeshore Drive near Turkey Creek Road:
Mason S. Kukuk, 16, 1772 250th Road, Marion, was traveling westbound on Lakeshore Drive near Turkey Creek Road in a 1998 Isuzu Amigo at 10 p.m. Aug. 22, when a small animal ran onto the roadway. The driver applied his brakes and lost control of the vehicle, striking a tree. Justin Herzet, 17, 1883 Clover Road, Marion, was a passenger. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt reported both driver and passenger were transported by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
340th Road near Sunflower Road:
Joyce L. McCullick, 48, 1677 300th Road, Lincolnville, was westbound on 340th Road near Sunflower in a 1998 Toyota Camry at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 22, and lost control of the vehicle. The car went into a north ditch, back on the roadway, then back into a north ditch. The car had a flat tire. The driver was not injured and there was less than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty.
