These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-50 east of Quail Creek Rd.

As reported May 1 by the Record, five to six horses owned by Jeffrey L. Smith, rural Peabody, was killed at 12:50 a.m. April 24 when they ventured onto the highway and were struck by semi-trailer truck.

A report released Friday states that the truck, a 2023 International owned by Rizq Transport of Fishers, Indiana, and driven by Harmanpreet Singh, 21, of Indianapolis, sustained disabling damage to its front, sides, and undercarriage and was towed.

K-150 east of US-56/77

Tire debris that flew off a semi in front of her at 1:30 p.m. May 3 hit a 2015 Chevrolet Impala owned and driven by Jasee G. Hamm, 19, Hillsboro.

The car sustained front-end damage characterized as minor. Hamm reportedly drove home before notifying the sheriff’s office.

K-15 north of 320th Rd.

Rain-slick roads were blamed for Holly L. Bethe, 68, Hope, driving her 2012 Ford Edge off the right side of the road at 7:50 a.m. May 6, traveling 415 feet before striking an orange warning post and a culvert.

Bethe’s sport-utility vehicle sustained disabling damage to its undercarriage and was towed.

US-50 east of Old Mill Rd.

Cynthia K. Matz, 45, Cedar Point, hit a deer at 6:30 a.m. May 4 with her 2019 Chevrolet Impala, which remained drivable with damage to its front, left side, hood, and undercarriage.

HILLSBORO

700 block of W. Grand Ave.

Backing through a yard to connect to a trailer at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Don S.W. King, 60, Toronto, Kansas, hit an Atmos Energy gas meter with his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.

Hillsboro firefighters shut off gas to the meeting until an Atmos crew could repair the damage.

King’s pickup sustained what was described as a minor scrape.
