These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

330th Rd. west of Pawnee Rd.

Carl E. Remmers, 44, Lincolnville, was seriously injured at 8:37 a.m. Dec. 27 when his eastbound antique 1980 Buick Regal crossed a centerline and crashed into an oncoming 1989 Peterbilt semi owned and driven by Frank S. Wirtz, 66, Lost Springs.

After being extricated from wreckage by Marion rescue squad members and Ramona firefighters, Remmers was rushed by Marion ambulance to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Wirtz was listed as possibly injured but was not taken to a hospital.

The semi sustained damage to its front, hood, and left front. The Buick was damaged along its hood and left front. Both vehicles were towed.

Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on reckless or careless driving by Remmers, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

Nighthawk Rd. south of 130th Rd.

Stephen B. Gillet, 58, Peabody, hit a deer at 6:48 a.m. Dec. 28 with his 2022 Chevrolet Trax, which remained drivable with damage to its front.

US-50 east of Turkey Creek Rd.

Katelyn M. Carlson, 29, Manhattan, hit a deer at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 29 with her 2017 Nissan Altima, which sustained disabling damage to its left front and hood and was towed.

US-50/77 roundabout

Charles J. McKinty, 23, Elmwood, Illinois, drove his 2014 Ford Explorer off the road to the right into a curb 50 feet north of the roundabout entrance at 9:42 p.m. Dec. 29.

Neither he nor passengers Daniel D. Tomlinson, 23, and Richard W. Hightower III, also 23, both of different Elmwood addresses, reported injury.

McKinty’s Ford sustained damage to its undercarriage and was towed.

Deputy Joshua Meliza’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

70th Rd. west of Holly Rd.

Jeremy W. Newhouse, 38, who lives just two miles away, hit a deer at 5:19 a.m. Dec. 30 with his 2020 GMC Sierra, which remained drivable with damage to its right front.

K-15 south of 140th Rd.

Jordyn A. Hubley, 22, Junction City, hit a deer at 10:27 p.m. Dec. 30 while driving a 2015 GMC Acadia owned by Caleb L. Berry of Abilene.

The truck remained drivable with damage to its right front.

K-15 south of 220th Rd.

Julia A. Ward, 47, Abilene, hit a deer at 5:55 p.m. Dec. 31 with her 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, which remained drivable with damage to its left front.

Lucille Ward, 45, of the same address was a passenger.

HILLSBORO

Main St. south of Grand Ave.

Eugene K. Welter, 63, rural Lehigh, backed his 2023 Chevrolet Silverado into a signpost and a “No U Turn” sign at 3:45 p.m. Jan. 2.

The pickup remained drivable with damage to its right rear. No tickets were issued.

MARION

Roosevelt St. south of Lawrence St.

Eleanor M. Walls, 27, backed her 2012 Honda Civic out of her driveway at 5:36 p.m. Jan. 1 and into a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 owned by Connie S. Freeborn of Florence and legally parked across the street.

Damage to the pickup was characterized as minor. The Honda remained drivable with damage to its rear.

No tickets were issued.

Thelma R. Wilson formally was charged Nov. 20 with theft.
