These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-56/77 south of 360th Rd.

Christopher S. Horner, 53, Norman, Oklahoma, hit a cow or bull that had wandered onto the roadway at 7:47 p.m. Oct. 27. The animal was owned by Ricky Hanschu of Ramona

Lavinia A. Horner, 43; Maria Gligor, 71; and Alexander J. Horner, 14, all of the same address, were passengers in Horner’s 2009 Kia Borrego, which was listed by deputy Peyton Heidebrecht as destroyed.

US-56/77 north of 240th Rd.

As reported in a news story last week, as many as nine people were injured in a four-vehicle accident at 4:06 p.m. Oct. 28.

A southbound 2021 Kia Sorento owned and driven by Sarah D. Madgwick, 44, Marion, crossed the center line after she fell asleep, according to deputy Kaylan Miles’s report.

Her car struck a northbound 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 owned by passenger Christopher A. Johnson of Junction City and driven by Rochelle O. Johnson, 52, of the same address.

The Johnsons’ pickup then struck a southbound 2015 GMC Yukon owned and driven by Sean M. Fitzgerald, 48, of Andover and a southbound 2020 Ford Explorer owned and driven by Justin D. Willour, 48, of rural Potwin.

Passengers in Fitzgerald’s pickup were Melissa K. Fitzgerald, 44, and Kaley Fitzgerald, 14, of the same address. In Willour’s sport-utility vehicle were Kristina M. Willour, 44, of the same address, and Mitchell Willour, 71, of Aledo, Texas.

Madgwick, Rochelle Johnson, Sean Fitzgerald, and Mitchell Willour all had to be extricated from their vehicles.

Kristina Willour was taken to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance. Both Johnsons and all three Fitzgeralds were taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Marion ambulance.

All four vehicles were towed. Willour’s was characterized as destroyed. No tickets were issued.

150th Rd. west of Falcon Rd.

Timothy M. Yarmer, 42, rural Canton, hit a deer at 7:45 a.m. Oct. 30 with his 2002 Ford F-150, which remained drivable despite damage to its left, front, and hood.

US-50 east of 70th Rd.

Theresa A. Bettels, 64, Butler, Missouri, hit a deer at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 with her 2006 Ford 500, which sustained disabling damage to its front and hood and was towed.

290th Rd. west of Remington Rd.

Megan R. Stuchlik, 40, rural Lost Springs, hit a deer at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 30 with her 2021 Chevrolet Traverse, which sustained damage characterized as minor.

Riding in her SUV were children Bristol, 1; Dakota, 7; and Colt, 9, of the same address.

US-56 east of Pawnee Rd.

Shawn L. Nguyen, 46, rural Marion, hit a deer at 6:15 a.m. Oct. 31 with his 2014 Chrysler Town and Country van, which remained drivable despite damage to its left front and hood.

US-56 east of Chisholm Trail Rd.

Jesse Prater, 48, rural Abilene, hit a deer, also at 6:15 a.m. Oct. 31, with a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban owned by Beacon Sales of Lenexa.

The SUV sustained disabling damage to its front, right, hood, and undercarriage and was towed.

K-15 north of 300th Rd.

Mark J. Haaga, 48, Abilene, hit a deer at 7:49 p.m. Thursday with his 2015 Dodge Charger, which remained drivable despite damage to its right side.

Brenda L. Haaga, 51, of the same address was a passenger in the car.

MARION

200 block of Walnut St.

Harrison J. Beery, 15, Marion, backed his 2011 Mercury Mariner out of a parking space at 6:10 p.m. Oct. 31 and into a passing 2023 Chevrolet Silverado owned and driven by Gene Winkler, 81, Marion.

Interim chief Zach Hudlin’s report said damages consisted only as minimal paint scraping to Beery’s SUV.

US-56 and Industrial Rd.

A 2022 Ford Transit van owned by the General Services Administration and driven by Joseph A. Brady, 37, Wichita, rear-ended at 10:15 a.m. Friday a 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara that owner/driver Cathy K. Henderson, 81, Marion had stopped at a stop sign.

Hudlin characterized damage to both vehicles as minor. No tickets were issued.
