These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-50/77 roundabout at Florence

Christa L. Cedra, 27, Kansas City, Missouri, failed to sufficiently slow her 2009 Kia Sorento at 10:01 p.m. May 25, and it struck a roundabout curb, causing disabling damage to the car’s front and undercarriage in addition to damaging the curb.

Riding in the vehicle were Cindale Terrell, 27, and Christopher Gibson, 22, of the same address and Christopher Terrell, 17, of Wichita.

Deputy Matt Regier’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving. No tickets were issued. The vehicle was towed.

US-56/77 north of 210th Rd.

Manuel O. Amaya, 27, Lewisville, Texas, hit a deer at 1:12 a.m. May 29 with his 2007 Toyota Camry, which remained drivable despite damage to its front, right, and hood.

Genri M. Amaya, 22, and infant Jorge N. Membreno, whose addresses were listed only as being somewhere in Texas, were passengers in his car.

220th Rd. east of Eagle Rd.

Malique J. Howery, 21, Lansing, Michigan, flipped his 2019 GMC Sierra onto its side at 9:51 a.m. June 1 after he drove it off the road to the right and the pickup’s right front tire slipped off a culvert.

The pickup, owned by Integrity Solutions Field Services of Alma, Michigan, sustained disabling damage to its front, right, undercarriage, hood, and roof and was towed.

Deputy Bruce Burke’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving. No tickets were issued.

Sunflower Rd. south of 110th Rd.

Elizabeth D. Parker, 29, Marion, swerved her 2013 Chevrolet Silverado C1500 into the right ditch at 2:21 p.m. June 2 while reportedly trying to avoid an unidentified vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

The pickup, owned by Burton G. William of Newton, sustained disabling damage to its right front and left door and was towed.

A fence owned by Eric Wessel of rural Peabody was damaged.

Indigo Rd. north of 120th Rd.

Grant H. Bryant, 18, rural Peabody, reportedly fell asleep at 1:37 a.m. June 3 and allowed his 2006 Toyota Highlander to cross Indigo’s center line, fall into its left ditch, and continue driving there for 0.15 of a mile until coming to rest in a drainage ditch.

The sport utility vehicle, owned by Denise L. Bryant of the same address, sustained disabling damage to its entire front half and undercarriage and was towed.

Deputy Josh Meliza blamed the accident on fatigue. No tickets were issued.

US-77 south of 170th Rd.

One person was injured when vehicles going in opposite directions both crossed the center line and sideswiped each other on their passenger sides at 7 a.m. June 5.

Zachary M. Warden, 21, Wichita, was taken to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center, after he reportedly dozed off and allowed his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado C1500 to cross the centerline,

In an attempt to avoid the approaching pickup, Gary L. Davis, 31, Hillsboro, drove his 1998 International semi-trailer truck, owned by J.L. Unruh LLC of rural Newton, into the lane in which Warden should have been traveling.

The vehicles collided. Warden’s pickup ended up in the left ditch. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage to their right sides and were towed.

Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on Warden being fatigued. No tickets were issued.

US-77 south of 50th Rd.

A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, owned and driven by Chase L. Stringer, 22, of El Dorado, caught fire and was destroyed at 11:11 p.m. Thursday.

Remains of the burned-out pickup, which according to monitored transmissions included a camper, were towed. Florence and Burns firefighters extinguished the fire. No information was provided regarding why the fire started.
