These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:


US-56/77 north of 250th Rd.

A 2002 Honda Accord driven by Kendall D. Talley, 24, Wichita, caused minor damage at 6:56 a.m. April 30 when it rear-ended a 2012 Hyundai Sonata driven by Jeremy C. Crocker, 44, Andover.

The Accord, owned by Jillian R. Bennington of Park City, was not damaged. Crocker’s Sonata sustained minor damage to its rear.

Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on Talley being distracted by a cell phone, but no tickets were reported to have been issued.

US-56/K-15 west of Chisholm Trail Rd.

KC R. Becker, 23, McPherson, hit a deer at 9:43 p.m. April 30 with his 2017 Ford Focus, which sustained damage to its front, hood, and passenger side but remained operational.

US-56 east of Old Mill Rd.

Dante L. Snyder, 18, Marion, hit a deer at 11:12 p.m. April 30 while driving a 2006 Mercury Montego owned by Jessica M. Snyder of the same address. The car sustained driver’s side damage to its rear but remained functional.

Old Mill Rd. south of 60th Rd.

Briana C. Washington, 28, Hesston, drove her 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe off the roadway to the right, then the left, through a ditch, and into a hedgerow after overcorrecting at 9:15 a.m. May 5 to avoid a deer.

Undersheriff Larry Starkey cited her for driving with improper license plates and no liability insurance.

Her car sustained disabling damage and was towed.


100 block of N. Main St.

A 63-year-old Hillsboro woman was injured at 6:32 p.m. Thursday when her car struck a vehicle backing out of a parking space and spun it around into a third, parked vehicle.

Jeanette A. Schaefer was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital after her 2005 Jeep Liberty struck the rear of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala that 17-year-old Jenna J. Friesen, also of Hillsboro, was backing out of a parking space.

Jerusalem B. Driggers, 17, of Hillsboro was a passenger.

The Impala, owned by Jeremy J. Friesen of Lehigh, spun around and struck a legally parked 2009 Pontiac G8 owned Rachael A. Plenert of Hillsboro, causing minor damage to the driver’s side rear door on the Pontiac.

Officer Peyton Heidebrecht and assistant chief Randy Brazil said in their report that the Jeep and the Chevy were destroyed and had to be towed.

They blamed the accident on Schaefer speeding, driving inattentively, and ignoring traffic control, but no citations were listed as having been issued.

100 block of S. Main St.

Mary R. Kane, 61, Manhattan, backed her parked 2013 Chevrolet Traverse at 6:05 p.m. Saturday into an approaching 2016 Hyundai Sonata being driven by Kassidy B. Trapani, 22, of Kansas City, Missouri.

Francis A. Ray, 83, Hillsboro, was a passenger In the Sonata, owned by Lynn M. Ray of the driver’s Kansas City address.

Officer David Funk’s report blamed the accident on Kane’s inattentive driving and failure to yield, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

The Traverse sustained damage to its left rear but remained operational. Damage to the Sonata was listed as minor.
