REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
K-15 north of 130th Rd.
Isaiah S. Jones, 21, Hesston, hit a deer at 9:02 p.m. April 23 with his 2012 Toyota Prius, which remained functional despite damage to its front and entire left side.
HILLSBORO
Lincoln St. and Grand Ave.
A driver who didn’t see that the intersection wasn’t clear after she stopped at a stop sign on Lincoln St. hit another vehicle traveling east on Grand Ave. at 2:25 p.m. April 25.
Jodi T. Watkinson, 63, Merriam, was cited for allegedly failing to yield after the left front of her 2012 Honda Accord clipped the right rear of a 2007 Jeep Liberty owned and driven by Terry L. Hill, 62, rural Hillsboro while Watkinson was attempting to turn left onto Grand.
Damage to both vehicles was listed as minor. Hill reported possible injury but was not taken to a hospital, according to assistant chief Randy Brazil’s report.
MARION
400 block of W. Main St.
Two 61-year-old Marion residents who had parked on opposite sides of Main St. backed their vehicles into each other at 12:20 p.m. Friday.
Roger E. Maag was backing his 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 out of a parking space on the south side of the street while Elizabeth A. Lynch was backing her 2014 Ford Eclipse out of a space on the north side of the street.
According to officer Duane McCarty’s report, Lynch backed over the centerline, hitting the rear driver’s side of Maag’s pickup with the rear driver’s side of her sedan.
McCarty’s report blamed the accident on improper backing and inattentive driving by Lynch, but no tickets were issued.
Damage to the pickup was listed as minor. Somewhat more significant damage was reported on the sedan, but both vehicles remained operational.
