These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:


US-56/77 north of 340th Rd.

Victoria Y. Thompson, 54, Wichita, heard a “pop” while driving north at 4 p.m. April 10, pulled over, and noticed fire coming from the hood of her 2016 Ford Focus.

Lost Springs firefighters extinguished the blaze, but deputy Travis Wilson’s report indicates the car was destroyed.

Indigo Rd. north of 100th Rd.

Terry D. Pankratz, 58, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 6:40 a.m. April 13 with his 2012 Toyota Camry.

US-56 east of Mustang Rd.

April J. Bartel, 60, Hillsboro, hit a deer at 11:01 p.m. Thursday with her 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis.


400 block of S. Jefferson St.

While rounding a corner in a parking lot at 10:51 a.m. Thursday, Tabor College basketball player N’Kozi Harris, 20, a 6-foot-4 freshman guard/forward from Oklahoma City, drove a 2017 Nissan Altima into the rear of a 2001 Chevrolet C1500 pickup that was being backed out of a parking stall.

Linden Thiessen, 63, Hillsboro, was driving the truck, which is owned by the college. He told police a witness would state that Harris had been texting at the time, but Harris told police he had not been texting.

The Nissan is owned by Jamar Harris of Westminster, Maryland.

US-56 west of Orchard Dr.

A 2005 Pontiac Grand Am owned and driven by Daniel C. Young, 46, rural Lincolnville, hit a deer that was being chased by a coyote at 1:40 a.m. Friday. Young was able to drive the car, but it reportedly sustained significant damage.
