These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-50 west of Union Rd.

Robert A. Russell, 60, Philadelphia, Tennessee, hit a deer at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 23.

290th Rd. west of Vista Rd.

Kevin L. Shields, 43, Lost Springs, was injured at 9:45 a.m. Oct. 24 when he lost control of a 1985 GMC truck owned by Lucas A. Carlson, Lincolnville, on a slick road and the vehicle overturned on the roadway. Shields was taken by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital. The GMC was towed.

US-77 north of 230th Rd.

Susan K. Regalado, 62, Lincolnville, reported possible injury at 6:46 a.m. Oct. 27 when she hit a deer with her 2016 Nissan Versa. The Nissan was towed.

Indigo Rd. south of 130th Rd.

Juan P. Pigot, 22, Honokaa, Hawaii, lost control of his 2005 Honda Civic at 9:10 a.m. Oct. 27 on a slick road, crossed the center line, and struck a mailbox and post.

US-50 at Pawnee Rd.

Randy J. Slack, 58, Wamego, hit a trailer at 12:27 p.m. Oct. 27 with a 2021 International semi owned by Convoy Systems, Kansas City. The trailer was being pulled by a 1999 GMC Yukon driven by Lonney D. Patterson, 19, Florence, that was slowed for a left turn.. The trailer lights were not connected and the Yukon taillights were darkened. Deputy Derek Fetrow’s report lists inattentive driving by Slack and improper turn signals by Patterson, but no citations were issued.

US-56 at Industrial Rd.

Abigail Schmidt, 18, Caldwell, was street racing in a 2016 Dodge Charger owned by Daniel W. Schmidt, Caldwell, at 2:45 p.m. Saturday when she crashed into a 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Matthew W. Bishop, 31, Moundridge. Schmidt was driving too fast to stop at a sign at the intersection of Industrial Rd. and U.S.-56.

Bishop was taken by ambulance to Ascension Via Christi, St. Francis for his injuries, and Schmidt was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by a private vehicle.

The accident caused the Ram truck to go off the highway and overturn in a ditch. It was heavily damaged on its driver’s side.

The Charger did a 180-degree turn and ended up facing the direction it came from. Its front end and hood were smashed, and a wheel was out of place.

The driver who was reported with Schmidt fled the scene, but Hillsboro police later contacted him.

The case remains under investigation for any offenses that may have occurred.

Marion

N. Roosevelt and E. Denver Sts.

Laura L. Meade, 24, Salina, was driving a 2017 Hyundai Accent at 5:10 p.m. Oct. 28 in the 300 block of N. Roosevelt St. when she crashed into a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael U. Rope, 17, Admire, who was driving through an intersection on E. Denver St.

The Silverado, which was owned by Cody A. Nelson, Marion, suffered damage to its back-left side. The Accent suffered damage to its entire front end, though accident reports did not specify whether either vehicle was removed by a tow service.

500 block of S. Roosevelt St.

Ashley R. Ratzloff, 27, Marion, was backing out of a parking stall in a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu at 3:05 p.m. Friday when she crashed into a 2007 Dodge V3500 truck owned by Hett Construction in the 500 block of S. Roosevelt St. The truck was parked in a no parking zone, according to accident reports.

The Malibu was damaged along its back end, and the truck suffered damage to front-left side.
