These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Remington Rd. north of 260th Rd.

Eugene F. Vinduska, 89, Marion, swerved and drove his 2003 Ford Taurus into a ditch while trying to avoid a tractor that made a U-turn in the road ahead of him at 5 p.m. May 5. The Ford was towed. The tractor did not stop.

US-50 west of US-77

A 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 crossed a centerline, sideswiped an oncoming 2020 Freightliner semi, and left the scene at 6:01 p.m. May 14.

The semi driver, Ricardo R. Cerrillo, 65, whose address was not reported, stopped, according to deputy Joel Womochil’s report, but the pickup continued on for a mile before circling back and driving past the accident.

The report identified the pickup driver as Matthew P. May, 26, but did not list his hometown. It said the pickup, which bore West Virginia plates, was owned by Tony M. Atwell, whose hometown also was not listed.

The semi was listed as owned by CRST Lincoln Sales and bore Indiana plates. Mark Endres, 50, of Santa Ana or Costa Mesa, California, was listed as a passenger.

Womochil’s report blamed the accident on an improper lane change, reckless or careless driving, and driving too fast conditions, all by the pickup driver, but no tickets were reported issued.

The report did not explain how May was identified.

190th Rd. east of Nighthawk Rd.

Fareed Salahuddin, 46, Wichita, drove a 2012 GMC semi into a culvert and hit a tree at 8:39 a.m. May 16. Deputy Derek Fetrow’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving, but no tickets were issued, The semi, owned by Foust Fleet Services of Wichita, had to be towed.

Marion County Lake dam

Three people were injured at 9:03 May 16 when Eleanor M. Walls, 23, Marion, swerved to avoid an animal and hit a guardrail with a 2012 Ford Fusion owned by Jared B. Walls, Marion. Walls and passengers Jared Walls, 23, and Sawyer Walls, 1, were taken by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital, Marion. Another passenger, Kalib Buckner, an infant, reportedly was not injured.

Diamond Rd. south of 370th Rd.

Elisha S. Prickett, 18, Carlton, rolled her 2001 Chevrolet Impala into a ditch at 7:39 p.m. May 20. Deputy C.J. Perry’s report blamed the accident on driving too fast on a gravel road, but no tickets were issued. The car was towed.
