ACCIDENTS
REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
340th Rd. west of Remington Rd.
Trenton Granzow, 21, rural Herington, drove his 1999 Chevrolet Silverado off the roadway to the right, then to the left, before rolling it into a field — all, apparently, in an attempt to miss hitting a deer at 4:49 a.m. May 5.
Deputy Derek Fetrow’s report, was not released until this past week, stated that Granzow was not at the scene when authorities arrived and that he provided his explanation of the accident later.
Although the four-door pickup ended up on its wheels, it sustained extensive damage and had to be towed. No injuries were reported, and no citations were issued.
K-15 south of 250th Rd.
Christopher Davis, 43, Wichita, hit a deer with his 2007 Chevrolet G150 van at 2:13 p.m. June 7. The van sustained extensive front-end damage and had to be towed.
Case St. west of Diamond Rd., Lehigh
The engine of a 1999 Dodge Dakota driven by owner Louis Coyle, 80, of Lehigh caught fire at 6:25 p.m. June 9. Lehigh firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
190th Rd. east of Kanza Rd.
Taylor Vogt, 22, rural Hillsboro, dozed off, allowing her 2004 Saturn Ion to drift onto the right shoulder, where it hit a pile of dirt before jeering back across the road, into the left ditch and through a fence, coming to rest in a field at 12:45 a.m. June 10.
Deputy David Harper-Head’s report said Vogt was injured but declined to be taken to a hospital. Her car had to be towed. The fence was owned by Wilbur Bartel of rural Hillsboro.
US-77 south of 140th Rd.
Ina Britton, 43, Florence, hit a deer with her 2015 Ford Fiesta at 9:39 p.m. June10. Her sport utility vehicle sustained extensive front-end damage and had to be towed.
HILLSBORO
200 block of W. 3rd St.
Jon Meier, 48, rural Hillsboro, hit an Atmos Energy gas meter with the passenger door of his 2000 Ford F-150 pickup while driving in an alley at 4:55 p.m. Thursday.
