While driving through the Sonic Drive-In parking lot, Christopher Lean Horn, 18, 8701N Emma Creek Rd, Hesston, struck the overhead roof with the top of 1989 pickup truck owned by Stone Creek Nursery, 501 S Highway 81, Hesston. Police reports said the accident was on private property.

U.S. 50 east of Pawnee Rd.

Anna M. Garcia, 22, 103 N. Olive St., Peabody, attempted to turn off U.S. 50 onto Pawnee Rd. and overshot the intersection, hit a stop sign, and stopped in the ditch at 6:30 p.m. May 13. Her 2007 Nissan sedan caught fire in dry grass and burned up. Police reported no injuries. The vehicle had to be towed.

190th Rd. east of Old Mill Rd.

Barney Evertt Gilsbresth, 68, 5612 FM 678, Gainesville, Texas, rear-ended Taylor Dane Thiessen, 18, 1154 180th Rd., Hillsboro, in her 2002 Chrysler with his 2007 Ford pickup when Thiessen attempted to stop because of traffic cones in the road at 11:50 p.m. May 16. Police reported no injuries.

140th Rd. west of Pawnee Rd.

Lasana L. Kamara, 36, 314 14th, Worthington, Minnesota, lost control, overcorrected, and overturned his 2000 Nissan sedan onto its roof at 6:44 a.m. May 19. He was taken by ambulance to St. Luke Hospital for possible injuries. The vehicle had to be towed.

Animal strikes

Alexander Steven Milby, 20, 15333 E. 87th Circle Court, Derby, struck a deer with his 2003 Infinity sedan at 9:56 p.m. May 16 on U.S. 77 south of 20th Rd.

John Raymond Cope, 52, 728 Marsha Dr., Andover, struck and killed a cow that was standing in the traffic lane with his 2001 Dodge pickup at 11:50 p.m. May 21 on Indigo Rd. south of 130th Rd. The cow belonged to Dan Suderman, 1153 Jade Rd., Peabody. The vehicle had to be towed.
