‘It was a dark and stormy night’

Staff writer

A play that mixes science fiction with a moral that love conquers all was presented Friday and Saturday by Hillsboro High School students.

Beginning with the words, “It was a dark and stormy night,” the play, “A Wrinkle in Time,” brought a girl searching for her lost father together with her brother, her friend, and three celestial beings in an attempt to locate him, battle forces of evil, and return him to earth.

In the play, Meg Murry, played by Rylie Driggers, joins forces with her brother, Charles, played by Colton Rempel; friend and neighbor Calvin O’Keefe, played by Angus Duell; and celestial beings Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which, played by Ainsley Duell, Paige Gehring, and Alana Suderman.

They travel through time and space together. In the end, love overcomes evil and Meg wins.

Director Robert Rempel said the cast of 35 had practiced since December.
