A big blizzard that was to hit this area has passed around Marion, but this community did get a white blanket of snow that fell late Tuesday night.
Marion County farms soon will be 85% to 90% electrified, according to O.E. Mabry, manager of the Flint Hills Rural Electric. Considered almost complete coverage, the first of four areas were energized Friday.
Former State Senator Alvin S. Wight died today as a result of a highway accident early Tuesday afternoon east of Marion.
Judges toured the city Monday night and chose the Edward Good home as winner in the annual home decoration competition. Second place went to the D.B. Jantz home. Tied for third were the homes of Stanley Anderson and Ira Newcomer. Fourth and fifth places went to the Ed Navrat and Harry Propp homes.
After nine months of voluntary hospitalization at Norton, physician R.R. Melton was back in Marion Tuesday afternoon, feeling fine and thoroughly enjoying seeing his many friends.
