Former Marionite James S. Kline is author of a feature article, “Crowd and Riot Control Requires Special Training,” in this month’s FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin. Kline, a former sheriff here and KBI agent, is coordinator of police training at the Government Research Center at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

Captain Richard H. Schwartz of Marion is pictured being sworn in as he re-entered the U.S. Marine Corps as a regular officer assigned to active duty. The Marionite and his family will be stationed at Camp Pendleton, California.

Members of Marion Jaycees are busy painting house numbers on curbs in front of homes in Marion. This project will help identify homes and add to the appearance of the town.

A second mysterious railroad death in the county occurred Tuesday afternoon a mile south of Lost Springs when a body was found among ashes of a fire that gutted the inside of a Rock Island railroad boxcar.

The first mysterious and unexplained death occurred Sept. 29, when the decomposed body of a man was found alongside railroad right of way near Aulne. Both bodies have been buried in Marion Cemetery.
