At least 400 farmers from a wide area and Marion businessmen gathered last Thursday evening at Marion City Building for the annual farm-city banquet sponsored by Marion Chamber of Commerce and Marion Kiwanis Club.

Marion’s football star at the University of Kansas, Ron Oelschlager, was further honored this week with selection to a berth on the 1963 Big Eight all- academic team. Ron is the only repeater from last year’s group.

Another scenic new residential subdivision to the city of Marion was accepted and officially filed this week with the register of deeds. It is the Tanglewood Addition. Owners of the new addition are Mr. and Mrs. Dean C. Batt and Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Costello.

Friday the 13th will be a lucky day in Marion, at least for 15 families. Fifteen big, live turkeys are to be given away free on Main St. Kids may register in any Marion store for the big prize to be given away Dec. 20 — a beautiful pony, complete with saddle and bride.

A new congregation in Marion, the Church of Christ, completed its purchase this week of the former Evangelical United Brethren Church building at Santa Fe and 5th Sts.
