Coon’s Restaurant, well-known Marion eating place, was sold the past week by Mr. and Mrs. Jess Coons to Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Ensey of Hutchinson. Actual change of ownership and operation will take place Jan. 1.

The Gnadenau Mennonite Church, south of Hillsboro, was completely destroyed by an uncontrollable fire early Christmas morning.

Judges were busy Thursday evening making their selection of winners in the annual outside decorators contest sponsored each year by the Marion Chamber of Commerce. Dr. T.C. Ensey and Homer Stiller were first prize winners of $25 on their joint display. Second prize, $20, went to Junior Bredemeier; third, $15, to William Wygle; and fourth, $10, to James Meisner

George Rhodes, well-known Marion resident, recently completed his 40th year as an employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He has spent all 40 years in Marion County.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Hett, who are parents of a boy born December 20 at St. Luke, weighing 7 lbs. 11 ozs. He has been named Eldon Leroy. His grandparents are Mrs. Anna Popp and Mr. and Mrs. John Hett sr.
