Richard N. Palmer has been named resident engineer for the Marion Dam and has moved his family to Marion. Palmer has supervised the construction of the Florence protection project and was in charge of the Council Grove Dam before coming to Marion.

Cook Motor Co., local Chevrolet dealer, has been notified that they have won the annual spring sales campaign for the 15th year in a row.

Marion women’s softball team opened their season Tuesday night by drubbing Florence 23-7. The roster included Mary Agnes Bina, Beverly Pankratz, Marge Schwartz, Mary Ann Finke, Jean Dody, Shirley Bredemeier, Jane Ann Bina, Donna Jost, Marge Summervill, and Frances Hunt.

Miss Viola Thompson presented several of her piano students in a recital Thursday afternoon at her home.
