Marion city workmen were busy the first part of the week installing new street signs at intersections all over town. Ernest Meierhoff, Victor Winter and Ralph Mathews are pictured erecting a marker at the Melvin and Roosevelt intersection.

The 1965 Queen of Courts will be crowned Friday evening. Three senior girls are candidates for the honor — Becky Berry, Barbara Christensen, and Connie Jost.

Announcement was made this week that an all-new farm supply store, known as “Marion Farm Supply, Inc.,” will open here within the next couple of weeks. Bill Coats from St. Joseph, Missouri, will operate the store which will handle all types of implement parts, stock tanks, wire, chains and all types of farm supplies.

Marion High School students will be publishing a newspaper, “MHS Smoke Signals,” beginning with the January issue. Editor-in-chief is Dennis Hett, a senior. Junior Cheri Bell will serve as assistant editor. The two-page paper will be compiled by a staff of 18 students and printed by the Marion County Record.

Eileen Pavey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Pavey, Rural Route 3, Marion, has accepted a teaching position in the Wichita school system.

R.R. Brooks, cashier of the Farmers and Drovers National Bank for the past several years was named vice president and cashier at the annual stockholders’ meeting Tuesday.
