Construction of a 13,000- square-foot building at Main and Coble Sts. is under. It will open in late October as Marion Home Town Foods. Owner Rick Turner of Marion County Lake also operates Florence Market in downtown Florence.

A public solicitation to pay for Christmas lights and projects of the past two years will be made during the next few days. Businesses will be contacted, but all residents of the community are encouraged to donate to the holiday lighting fund, which provides decorations in Marion.

More than 40 children and teenagers are involved in an ambitious production “Krazy Kamp,” a musical to be staged Aug. 13 and 14 in Marion Municipal Auditorium. Recreation commission volunteers are busy preparing for the performance, which is being directed by Cathy Whitaker.

Twenty-one young people from Marion County attended 4-H camp at Rock Springs Center. They were accompanied by their county extension agents, Kathy Goodin and Steve Tonn, along with four high school counselors, Wendi Suderman, Cheri Bentz, Tom Hall, and Dale Klenda.

Wayne and Goldie Steely of Burdick are inviting friends and neighbors to an open house Sunday to view their beautiful flower garden.
