Marion County firefighters are planning a day and evening of family activities and entertainment Sept. 3 at Marion County Lake. A fireworks show will follow at dark.

Members of Marion High School Key Club and Marion Kiwanis Club recently cleaned and painted the Big M on the east side of town. Key Club members Danielle Cope, Katie Hett, Erin Richmond, and Kari Tajchman are pictured as they roll on white paint while Kiwanian Roger Hannaford III provides the paint.

Two tour groups will Marion, and rhino owners are being reminded to have their concrete masterpieces on display. The groups will be in town Sept. 2 and 21, providing ample time for touching up the statuary.

Isaac Guetersloh, Kyle Hett, and Riley Ross, this year’s attendees at Boys State, presented a program at Monday’s Kiwanis Club meeting.

Several residents have reported sightings of mountain lions both south and north of Marion.

Approximately 35 members of Flint Hills Muzzleloaders plan to have a rendezvous with other muzzleloaders during the Labor Day weekend at a campground at Florence. The public will be invited to visit their camp Saturday or Sunday.
