1,000 doses of meth seized

Hillsboro cops nab 2 from Wichita in traffic stop

Two Wichita residents, one of them formerly from Hillsboro, were arrested early Monday in Hillsboro with more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, enough for nearly 1,000 doses.

“It’s a pretty significant amount of drugs,” Assistant Police Chief Randy Brazil said.

Officer John Huebert pulled over the Wichitans’ car at 1:28 a.m. at D and Date Sts. for having an expired Missouri tag and no tag light.

Huebert called for assistance from deputy Josh Meliza, who brought his drug dog to sniff the car.

Matthew Finch, 38, who lives in Wichita but uses a Salina address on his driver’s license, was arrested on suspicion of distribution of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and having no drug tax stamp.

Lisa Bunting, 32, Wichita, was arrested on suspicion of distribution of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle without registration, and having no drug tax stamp.

Citing ongoing investigation, Brazil said the department would not release further information at this time.
