It was like Christmas Monday evening when Marion City Council was told that late Marion resident Pearl Baxter had given $5,000 to the city library and $25,000 to the city museum. These donations are in addition to $25,000 she gave anonymously to the library several years ago.

Marion will be the site for production of a private film. The film company will be here May 31 through June 3. The city council approved a temporary suspension of an order against discharging firearms within the city limits for part of the storyline to take place.

Elementary school fifth- and sixth-graders presented “Pirates: The Musical” May 6 at the Performing Arts Center. Adam Kjellin played the king of the high seas.

Michel Soyez is pictured as he points out to his son, Devin, blue under the gills of a bluegill. Devin was participating in the Marion Boy Scouts fishing derby Friday at Marion County Lake.
