Marion’s school district has purchased a 1998 Bluebird motor coach for $49,900. It will replace a 19-year-old yellow bus in need of repairs that had just one year of operation remaining, according to state law.

Marion Middle School’s seventh grade Scholars Bowl team posted a 7-1 record April 7 at Halstead to take first place in a league championship. Team members were Alicia Maloney, Caitlyn Maloney, Nick Meyer, Tim Noller, Zach Robson, and Kaelyn Thierolf.

The historic Allison home near Florence is one of those featured in the Home Improvement section of this issue. A.N. Allison built a two-story stone home in 1873. One hundred years later, Les and Linda Allison began a renovation.

A modern log home, completed in 1978 and updated a few years ago, is attached to the original 1873 limestone house and continues to be used be used by the Allison family.
