Col. Bates has brought us a stool of wheat that measures 20 inches and is jointed, which he says is a fair sample of a large field.

Several years ago, Marion Centre was named the stone city. It seems that the name is destined to become more and more appropriate.

A bandstand, for which a subscription has been generously raised by our citizens, is being erected on Fred Rouse’s lot, corner of Main and 3rd Sts.

Dr. Rogers is accumulating stone for a two-story stone building adjoining the Cottonwood Valley Bank building. It will be in harmony with that handsome structure.
