Put a bright mark down for Tampa. As far as we know, Tampa was the only town in the county to have a Municipal Christmas tree this year. In addition, it was evidently a real success.

The Hospital fared well for Christmas. Books were sent by several different persons, one being a handmade scrap book for the little people from one of the Sunday Schools, flowers for a bouquet for every room were sent by one of the churches, and many other gifts. The patients all want to thank the little boy who left the Christmas package at the door.

Herbert M. Thorp got the diamond at Sheldon’s, having guessed the exact number of grains of corn the duck would eat. The lucky number was 178. Miss Clara Symes guessed 179 and Wm. Jackman guessed 177. The duck was kept in a box in the window of the store for a number of days and then, during the 24 hours preceding the test, it was not fed. At five o’clock Saturday evening, it was fed and the test was to see how many grains it would eat from five to six o’clock.

Mrs. Mary Dickinson of St. Joseph has bought the interest of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Porter in the Elgin lease and took charge last week. Mrs. Porter sold on account of Mr. Porter’s poor health.
