A field of milo along 240th Rd. between Pawnee and Old Mill Rds. is pictured as it was being harvested by Gary Grentz. The field yielded between 85 and 90 bushels per acre, which Grentz characterized as “pretty good.”

Joyce Ford and residents of St. Luke Living Center baked the muffins for the 22 kindergarten students and their mothers.

Tampa was a busy town Aug. 28 and 29 with a coed softball tournament, dedication ceremony at the Jim Clemmer Memorial Ball Field, and the bank’s hog roast.

Roy Houdyshell of Lincolnville won first place for best original car in the car show at the Florence Labor Day celebration. Houdyshell said he always wanted a car like it because it was like the one his father had when Houdyshell was a child. Everything is original including the 324-cubic-inch motor.

Marion High School football player Jordan Versch is pictured as he dives on the football after Mikael Antoszyk fumbled a punt Friday at Lyons. The Warriors recovered the ball and won the game 20-7.
