It was like Christmas Monday evening when Marion City Council was told that the late Marion resident, Pearl Baxter, had given $5,000 to the city library and $25,000 to the city museum. This donation is in addition to $25,000 she gave anonymously to the library a number of years ago.

Marion will be the site for the production of a private film. The film company will be in Marion May 31 through June 3. The city council approved a temporary suspension of the order against discharging firearms within the city limits in order for a part of the storyline to take place.

Elementary School fifth- and sixth-graders presented the musical, “Pirates” The Musical,” May 6 in the Performing Arts Center. Adam Kjellin played the King of the High Seas.

Michel Soyez is pictured as he points out to his son Devin the blue under the gills of a bluegill. Devin was participating in the Marion Boy Scouts fishing derby Friday at Marion County Lake.
