The McKinney Sisters, a bluegrass gospel group from Moundridge, performed Saturday night at "Shindig in the Park," sponsored by Peabody Historical Society. The sisters, from left, Mikyl, and Randyl entertained the crowd with traditional hymns such as "On the Wings of a Dove" as well contemporary gospel numbers by Alison Krauss. Rodney Bates and Bennie Holtsclaw performed similar music, but added some variety with songs like "Chattanooga Shoeshine Boy" and "Sounds of Silence." A group of 80 or so attended the evening concert.
Sheri Austin enjoys the view from the rear of her patio garden at her residence in Florence. Austin has spent the summer working on the patio garden, which she said she's had visualized in her mind for a long time.
Approximately 40 motorcycles were parked along Main St. Aug. 26 when the group ROMEO (Retired Old Motorcyclists Eating Out) stopped by Cindy's Cafe in Marion for the day, most of them traveling from Hutchinson, McPherson, and Salina. The group's goal is to help support small town eateries. Their group leader picks a date and place, sends word out to members of the group, and they all set forth to enjoy a day of enjoying the views while they drive their motorcycles to a small town restaurant for a new experience.
